South Carolina Cell Phone Laws

To combat an increasing number of accidents caused by distracted drivers, many states have enacted laws regulating the usage of cell phones for calls and text messaging in vehicles. Research shows that in 2012, more than 3,300 people were killed nationally in accidents involving distracted driving. South Carolina currently registers crash data due to the use of cellphones and texting. However, according to the State Highway Safety Office, they haven't enacted any laws regarding this device. Regardless of the fact that there are currently no laws in the state of South Carolina regarding cellphone, one must take the precaution of not talking or texting while driving. If you need to make an important phone call or text someone, stop your car wherever allowed and do it calmly.
